Photo Sharing Site Flickr’s Growth Timeline

Flickr may not be as huge as it once was in the photo-sharing category; Facebook has been the leader in this for more than a year now. However, the site is growing big in its own right and recently announced the upload of their 4 billionth picture. Here is how the growth has been so far

Founded : 2004
Acquired : 2005 (by Yahoo)
2 billion uploads : November 13, 2007
3 billion uploads : November 3,2008
4 billion uploads : October 12, 2009

Close to a year for every billion uploads; that’s pretty sad when you know that 2 billion photos are uploaded each month on Facebook.

I used to use Picasa earlier to manage my Photo album. but now I’m a contributor in 4 billion photos ;)

Yea, Picasa is not promoted enough or so I would think. Most of my photos are on orkut; a place I have not frequented in a long time..
