Growth in Email vs. Social Network Usage

Decades after its introduction, email is still growing. However, email is no longer the quickest way to communicate thanks to the Twitters and Facebooks of today. No wonder then that the social networks have grown much faster in the past year than the email.

Number of Email users in August 2009 : 276.9 million (21% growth)
Number of Social network users in August 2009 : 301.5 million (31%)

The statistic was gathered around USA, Europe, Australia and Brazil. With the statistic from these randomly chosen countries, the number may not matter, but the growth rate is significantly representative of the whole industry.
