Free Shipping on E-Commerce Websites

Free shipping is increasingly being used to incentivize online shoppers. Comscore reports that close to 42% of all shipped items today are shipped ‘free of cost’. Here is the percent of free shipped goods purchased online over the past year.

Q1 2008 : 31%
Q2 2008 : 34%
Q3 2008 : 35%
Q4 2008 : 38%
Q1 2009 : 37%
Q2 2009 : 43%
Q3 2009 : 42%

The number is likely to increase as the shopping season arrives.
